Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the events and keep everyone matched appropriately:
- Account details — your first and last name, gender, date of birth, country, and email address, collected once when you first sign up.
- Age & country — your date of birth and country are used specifically to confirm you're eligible for the events you register for, and aren't editable after signup for that reason.
- Event activity — which events you register for and attend, the likes/passes you record during rounds, and any resulting matches.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe; we store only the confirmation reference for your booking, never your full card details.
- Video session data — see "Video calls" below.
- Technical data — basic device, browser, timezone preference, and IP information needed to keep the service secure and working.
How we use your information
Your information is used to run the service and support you — never sold:
- To create your account, send login codes, and confirm your event bookings.
- To check you're eligible for the age-range and country an event is intended for.
- To run each round's video connection and match you with your next participant.
- To let you know when a like is mutual, and to help you and a match arrange a follow-up chat.
- To process payments and enforce our no-refund policy on confirmed bookings.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent fraud or abuse.
Legal basis for processing
Where applicable law (such as the UK GDPR) requires it, we rely on:
- Contract — to deliver the event you've booked and paid for.
- Consent — for optional communications, and for revealing a mutual like, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain and improve the service, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records, for example for tax, accounting, or age-verification purposes.
When we share information
We share data only where it's necessary to run the service:
- Payment processing — Stripe processes your payment; we never see or store your full card details.
- Video & realtime infrastructure — Vonage powers the video calls and Ably powers round-timing signals, each only for the duration of the event you're attending.
- Legal requirements — where we're required to by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- Never sold — we do not sell your personal information, your likes, or your matches to third parties.
Video calls
- Rounds are live, peer-to-peer video calls — we do not record any round.
- Video access for a round is limited strictly to the two participants assigned to that pairing.
- We log basic attendance (whether your video connected) so we can show a fair "your match hasn't joined yet" message rather than leave you guessing — this is not a recording or transcript.
Cookies
- Essential cookies — a single session cookie required to keep you signed in and your booking secure.
- Preference cookies — remember your selected timezone so events display correctly on your next visit.
- We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can control or clear cookies in your browser settings; disabling the essential cookie will stop you being able to stay logged in.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account information for as long as your account is active.
- Event, likes, and match history is kept to support the mutual-match and rebooking features, and for basic accounting records.
- After you close your account, we remove or anonymise personal data except where we must keep records to meet legal obligations.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — ask us to fix information that's inaccurate or incomplete (note: date of birth is fixed after signup for age-eligibility integrity — contact us if it was genuinely entered incorrectly).
- Delete — ask us to erase your personal data where there's no overriding reason to keep it.
- Complain — raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
How we protect your data
- Connections are encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
- We use passwordless, single-use email codes for login rather than storing passwords.
- Payment details are handled by Stripe, a certified payment processor, and never stored on our servers.
- No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using appropriate safeguards.
